20th Anniversary Celebration of the Faculty of Tourism Studies

Recently, On November 18, 2015,Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Science and Humanity, Vietnam National University solemnly celebrated its 20th Anniversary (1995 - 2015) with series activities like meetings, gala exchanges between teachers and students of the courses at the 8th floor of the E House of the University of Social Science and Humanity.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy General Director of the General Department of Tourism Ngo Hoai Chung together with leaders of some departments and functional units under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT); representative of Hanoi Tourism Department; The management board of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, representatives of tourism schools in Hanoi, representatives of travel companies, hotels in Hanoi, foreign partners and generations of faculty and students of the Faculty through the period.

In the past 20 years, after the decision of the VNU President, the establishment of the Faculty of Tourism Studies (21/10/1995), with the mission of leading the creation, dissemination of knowledge and training of high quality human resources in tourism, serving the cause of construction and development of the country. With a team of 20 experienced, enthusiastic and committed professionals, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has been constantly innovating and improving teaching methods to adapt to international trends and the development of tourism. The Faculty has actively coordinated with other stakeholders in the field of tourism such as travel agents, hotels, research experts; At the same time, build and develop cooperative relationships with universities and international organizations in France, Japan, USA, Germany, Thailand and Malaysia in order to give a chance for students teachers to exchange work and study. The strategic objective of the Faculty of Tourism Studies to 2020 is to become the leading academic-oriented academic and academic institution for tourism and hospitality in the country, with a focus on postgraduate education to having highly qualified human resources for tourism in Vietnam and the region.

With the results achieved, the Faculty of Tourism Studies and faculty members, former faculty members received the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training, Director of Hanoi National University. Also on this occasion, the Board of Management of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities announced the Decision of the Faculty Board for the term 2015-2020.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy General Director Ngo Hoai Chung emphasized that building up a contingent of qualified, enthusiastic and devoted staff is one of the key tasks of the construction for tourism industry, VNAT always attach importance to the training and education of human resources for tourism. Therefore, human resource training plays a decisive role and position in enhancing the quality and competitiveness of the industry, building the image of modern and sustainable tourism in Vietnam.

Immediately after the celebration is the Gala Night Celebrating 20 years of the traditional Faculty of Tourism Studies named "Reunion Day" with the participation of all the teachers working in Faculty, Alumni and students as well as second-degree students.

The art performance, music and dance contributed to the "Reunion Day" became warmly, friendly, reminiscent of the early hard days, hardships to the glory that all Faculty’s staffs effort striving.
