DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES OF FACULTY OF TOURISM

On October 21st 2011, by decision of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in order to educate Bachelors in Tourism, Faculty of Tourism was officially established with 2 divisions: Cultural & Geographical Tourism and Economical & Professional Tourism. There have been more than 2000 full-time students; and many of them after graduation have been successful in fields related to tourism, particularly Government officials in tourism, lecturers in many colleges and universities, managers in tourism enterprises and advanced experts of tourism-related research programs.

 

In 2003, with the mission of training high-qualified human resources and the acceptance of Vietnam National University and Ministry of Education & Training, Faculty of Tourism started to train Masters of Tourism and has been the first training institution in Vietnam up to now. After more than 10 years, 20 experienced, full of enthusiasm and dedication lecturers, and nearly 1000 students have been graduated. Intensive training curriculum was designed with various tourism-related subjects and supplementary subjects, the curriculum is the combination of theory and necessary skills to supply trainees with more opportunity to get integrate into domestic and oversea tourism labor market.

 

In 2013, catch up with the development of tourism, Faculty of Tourism adopted a new subject: event management. This is a very potential field, however it needs well-trained human resources, because the working environment requires high professionalism. Therefore, the curriculum is intensively designed with a wide range of the subjects in event, and other complementary subjects, as well as a combination of theory and practice skills to provide students with opportunities to better integrate the working environment in the future. 

 

More than 15 years of foundation and development, the period is not quite long run, but Faculty of Tourism has achieved many successes in training, research and international cooperation. In the future, Faculty of Tourism will still make a great attempt to become national training center of Tourism and continue to bring many core values to students.
