International Conference on Marine Tourism

Under the theme of "Sea Tourism," an international seminar organized by the Faculty of Tourism Studies, the University of Social Sciences and Humanity in collaboration with Kent University and Bradford University (UK) has successfully taken place on November 24, 2015 at the Conference Room 506 E House University of Social Sciences and Humanity.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the British Council - the sponsor of the research project; Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Vice Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanity; Teachers from Faculty of Tourism Studies, the foreign guests from England, Germany, Australia, Japan; Experts in Tourism in Vietnam are working at the Institute of Tourism Research and Development, National Economics University, Hanoi Teachers College, Thang Long University, and representatives of some companies belong to the Responsible Travel Club (RTC) network.

On the workshop, Dr Mark Hampton (University of Kent), Dr Julia Jeyacheya (University of Bradford) and Dr Pham Hong Long presented the results of research on Ha Long Sea Tourism. Favorable issues, as well as difficulties in management mechanism, natural resources, facilities, economic and social impacts were raised so that participants could ask questions and discuss. In addition, the problem of personnel is also one of the major issues affecting the quality of marine tourism services in Ha Long, which has been identified by Dr. Jeyacheya.

Besides the presentation on the results of research on Halong Bay Tourism, the workshop also has the participation of Ms. Helen Brunt with a very detailed and relevant presentation on "Marine Tourism - Lessons from Malaysia". This presentation provides a holistic view on the development of sustainable marine tourism.
