SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP ON “GROWTH AND FRAGMENTATION: BACKPACKER TOURISM IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA"

In the morning of May 15th, 2015, Faculty of Tourism Studies held the scientific workshop on "Growth and Fragmentation: Backpacker tourism in South-East Asia" of Dr. Mark Hampton from Kent University – United Kingdom. This was one of the activities for celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, as well as an activity of the project co-funded by British Council and Kent University.

The participants attending the workshop were Dr. Julia Jeyacheya – his colleagues at Kent University, the Faculty’s staff and students, and some members of Responsible Travel Club. Dr. Mark Hampton talked about the scientific information of backpacker tourism in South East Asian that he spent a lot of time and effort on. After the presentation, Dr. Mark spent time to discuss and share his experiences, and answer the questions related to this increasingly popular kind of tourism.

 

At the end of the workshop, on behalf of the Faculty of Tourism, Dr. Pham Hong Long, deputy dean of the Faculty extended his thanks and gave presents to 2 guests. He also expected Dr. Mark on behalf of Kent University would continue to support the Faculty and its staffs in teaching and researching.
